JetBlue announced on Friday that it will start daily flights between Boston and northern Maine later this year. The airline will commence daily service from Logan International Airport to Presque Isle International Airport in Aroostook County, Maine, starting September 5. This route will serve residents of Presque Isle, northern Maine, and northwestern New Brunswick.
"We are grateful to the U.S. Department of Transportation for selecting JetBlue for this new Essential Air Service route," said Dave Jehn, vice president of network planning and airline partnerships for JetBlue. "We are committed to providing reliable, high-quality service to northern Maine and are excited to bring our award-winning JetBlue experience to the region."
For residents of northern Maine and New Brunswick, the new service will enable convenient same-day travel to Boston. Travelers can also connect to many of the 75 destinations JetBlue serves nonstop from Logan Airport.
Those heading to Presque Isle will find “a destination rich with natural beauty, outdoor adventure, and vibrant local culture,” JetBlue wrote in a press release. Highlights include “stunning landscapes” at Aroostook State Park, as well as opportunities for hiking, skiing, fishing, and enjoying “the warmth and hospitality of a close-knit community.”
“The City of Presque Isle and Aroostook County are pleased to begin a new chapter in airline service partnering with JetBlue,” stated Presque Isle City Council Chair Kevin Freeman. “We eagerly await experiencing JetBlue’s renowned innovation and creativity, which will enhance and grow air travelers’ experiences in our region.”
