The carrier, American Airlines, has recently announced that it will make its inaugural landing at Cape Cod Gateway Airport in Hyannis in 2024.

On June 5, 2024, American will commence daily summer flights from New York’s LaGuardia Airport and Washington Reagan National Airport to Hyannis, with the Embraer E175 aircraft serving as the mode of transport for customers.

American is set to become a part of the Hyannis hub alongside JetBlue and Cape Air. Notably, American is positioned to be the sole global network carrier serving the airport, enabling connections to over 80 destinations across North America with just one stop to reach the Cape Cod gateway.

Furthermore, American has disclosed its plans to introduce daily seasonal services between LaGuardia and Nantucket, Martha’s Vineyard, and Bangor, Maine. Additionally, there will be twice-daily year-round service to Portland, Maine, starting in June, and the launch of flights connecting LaGuardia to Halifax, Nova Scotia.

“We are excited to announce American Airlines’ expansion to Cape Cod, Nantucket, and Martha’s Vineyard, providing seasonal service from June through September!” shared airport officials on social media. Their commitment extends beyond adding summer flights; it’s about enhancing opportunities and convenience for both our year-round residents and beloved tourists during the vibrant summer season.

Boston airport express has been providing car services from Boston to Cape Cod since 2001. We also have regular trips to Hyannis Ferry dropoff location, Nantucket, Martha’s Vineyard from Massachusetts locations.

Katie Servis, the manager of Cape Cod Gateway Airport, has been actively promoting Cape Cod’s potential to major carriers during industry events. This effort is driven by the opportunity to serve the approximately 250,000 travelers who presently opt for Providence or Boston airports over the Hyannis service.

Katie Servis, speaking to The Boston Globe, highlighted the potential impact of consistency: “When there’s a pattern, travelers become accustomed to choosing this airport and even start typing ‘HYA’ into their search engines instead of ‘BOS’ or ‘PVD’ for Providence. That’s a transformative shift.”

Furthermore, for customer convenience, Hyannis flight bookings will be available for purchase on aa.com and the American Airlines mobile app starting from October 23, while tickets for other routes are scheduled for sale on October 16.
