Massachusetts decide to increase hourly wage to $15.
It is a day of happiness for the people residing in Massachusetts. The declaration that MA is the
second State after California to offer $15 hourly wage by the year 2023 on 29 June 2018 is being
welcomed with open arms by the workers. So it is the hour of rejoicing for the workers as their most wanted increment from $11 per hour to $15 per hour for the next 5 years has finally happened.
The effective Bill has been passed which also states that people will get family leaves for
permanent sales tax holiday and Sunday working have been omitted.
The Bill has the following points:
- The paid leave system makes it clear that the workers will be granted 12 weeks of paid leave
if they have to take care of an ailing family member or a newborn baby. In case the worker
needs leaves for self, then they are entitled to get 20 weeks of paid leave. - The wages will increase from $11 p/h to $15p/h. The workers were fighting for this to
happen and when it finally arrived, their happiness had no limit.
This good news is for the employed drivers across the State of Massachusetts. However, the independent
drivers are not to be benefitted with the Bill as only the employed drivers are eligible to get the
benefits of the Bill. The drivers who are employed by companies are very happy and have welcomed
the Bill with a big sigh of relief.
